Pados is a neighbourhood-based social network that helps neighbours engage with their community, like never before. Every neighbourhood has its own identity, character, and culture. It is our endeavour to create a platform wherein neighbours can come together and share their interests and experiences, discuss local events in an open forum, organize social meetups and get to know the locals.
It started with an obsession - to analyze things around us, particularly "how they are changing" and "what are the drivers of that change". It is no news that the Internet has changed the way we live. For the major part, it has made life easier for us by improving access to things across the world. We understand the world better now than we did two decades ago. In fact, we know more about someone living across the 7 oceans than about the people living in our own neighbourhood. Social media platforms have further accelerated the speed at which we connect with people across the globe and make new connections. However, they have also amplified the spread of misinformation and made it easier for mass manipulation. While anonymity has helped people to share information using pseudonyms, it has also become a weapon for trolls and spammers.
Amidst all this noise, we have lost sight of a few important things in life – such as our neighbourhoods. We are barely able to keep track of changes happening in our neighbourhood that impact our daily lives.
We want to build a safer and much kinder space on the internet that is based on the accountability and individuality of every user and we want to address the one thing that impacts the most in our users' lives – the place where they live! We have been testing our early version product in a few neighbourhoods in Bengaluru and have received an overwhelmingly positive response. People are yearning for more civility, trust, and kinship in their communities.
